Meghan Gargiulo, MSW Intern
I am committed to helping children, adolescents, and adults build healthy habits in order to better manage their symptoms, improve their relationships and reach their goals.
I am a Master's level intern working under the supervision of Andrea Witter, DSW, LCSW. I am currently in my final year of my master’s degree at Roberts Wesleyan College, where I have gained a solid foundation in social work theories, ethical practices, and evidence-based interventions. My coursework has equipped me with a deep understanding of various social issues, including techniques and skills around supporting individuals with mental health issues. Along with my education, I have several years of experience working in the behavioral health field with individuals ranging from children to seniors, who are navigating life's challenges, including care coordination and managing symptoms of various mental health conditions.
I believe trust is foundational in therapy. I aim to build trust by being genuine, empathetic, and reliable. I show unconditional positive regard by accepting clients as individuals deserving of respect, support and validation.
I believe in a collaborative and client-centered approach to therapy: your unique experiences, strengths, and goals are at the center of our work together. By creating a safe and nonjudgmental space, I aim to foster a trusting therapeutic relationship that encourages honest communication, compassionate support and guidance toward positive growth.
I use play therapy techniques for kids while integrating talk therapy. For adolescents and adults, I use a mix of methods including elements of Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I work collaboratively with clients to establish therapy goals that are specific and based on the client's preferences, priorities, and desired outcomes.
